2010 Board Positions

The HRKC is currently looking to hire for the following positions:

Race Director
Tech Director
Public Relations
Treasurer

The deadline for accepting potential candidates is Jan 24th. The current HRKC Board will be conducting interviews for these positions soon after this date.

News and Coming Events

Thanks to all that came out for the Turkey Race on Nov 15th. It was a lot of fun and we appreciate all that came out and participated. This concludes our racing schedule for 2009.

The HRKC Board would like to thank all the members and guests that came out and raced with us this year. We know it was a tough year for the economy and we appreciate all you "die-hard" racers coming out.

Again, check back here periodically for updates on the HRKC and the plans for the new season in 2010.

2009 HRKC Annual Awards Banquet

The HRKC Annual Awards Banquet was held on Sunday, November 8th at the Omni Newport News Hotel.  There was a good crowd at the banquet and a good time was had by all in attendance. Thanks to all the members that came out. If you did not make it to the banquet and have earned a trophy this season, please see David Overstreet at the track or call 757-373-4970 to arrange to pick it up.

Open Letter from Larry Waltrip

Below is a letter received from Larry Waltrip after the Annual Awards Banquet.

I would like to request this quick note to all the drivers to be posted on the website.

Again CONGRATS TO THE CHAMPS

As I stated during the banquet, I could not sponsor a race for the 2009 season.

But I am so proud of the club and what it has become. It was wonderful to see some old friends along with the new faces. The food was super and the location was fresh. Good job to the banquet committee!

I wanted to do something special again this season for the club to continue to earn my 19 year membership. When cleaning in the garage, I found some (new) old fuel cards in a box with all my membership cards, old raffle tickets, my old pit passes and stuff from the old days.  I thought about it a while and called my good ‘ole buddy Russell from R & R Kart shop. I made arrangements with him to supply 100 gallons of fuel for the 2010 season. I hoped to have the tickets given out during the trophy presentation to all the 70plus drivers listed and any left over were to be given to NEW Members to the up coming season of 2010.  I realize there are a few classes that use other fuels than the methanol; I needed to suggest to them (But forgot on stage) they could always sell their ticket to a karter that uses the methanol and get the cash for the gas!

Thanks Bill for keeping  the club going I KNOW what your going thru!
